The Electric bike starts......

Well parts have been found, namely one spare bike frame, some wheels, a few possibly duff batteries, a speed controller off eBay, and soon a new motor...

I also have started a shopping trailer (link) to pull behind it.

This is a brushed build i think... I like brushed, its simple, I like brushless motors, they good for many more miles, but they cost more....

So I have some bits, now for a plan, I don't have one of those yet, but I'm researching....

Now we have laws in this country that states what I can and cant use on an electrical cycle, namely it must be pedal assistance, so i need to have working pedals, that the motor is 200w and no more, and it must weigh less than 160kg I think.....

160kg is a lot, like who would build one that heavy, so not an issue, pedals, well i don't mind keeping working pedals, after all the batteries may go flat, 200w of motor? who the fck are they trying to kid? most hand blenders for mixing up me Yorkshire puddings have a bigger motor than that!

but who am I to argue with the law, that's right, an idiot if i do try, so a 200w motor it shall be..... really.... I mean I know I'm a bit of a big guy on the heavy side and so i should be able to have two but no, the laws the law...

anyhow 200w motors for 12v are cheap if you know where to get one, just so happens that Peugeot radiator fan motors are 200w and very cheap at the junkyard....
